New lid...
I've been using a Caberg V2 helmet for the past two and a half years. I found it comfortable and liked the feature of the built in retractable dark visor. However, after 15000 miles it's seen better days and started to fray slightly and seems to let in more wind since it's slackened off a bit.
I decided it was time to invest in a new one and thought I'd go for something a bit more special. My new helmet is a Shoei XR1100 'El Capitan'.
When I first tried it out I was impressed by the level of comfort and reduced wind noise. It does have the feel of a premium helmet. It has superior build quality and finish. But at a price! It wasn't cheap!
With the El Capitan model being new to the market it was impossible to buy it at discout price so I went for the best offer of freebies which was from Lidsdirect.co.uk.
They offered the helmet with a free dark visor, cleaning and sanitising kit and an Oxford deluxe fleece lined carry bag. Unfortunately when I ordered it the dark visors were out of stock so I had to wait for them to forward it on when they got it in. After 2 weeks it was in the post with an apology and another load of freebies to make up for the inconvenience. They included a cargo net, alloy valve caps, ear plugs and another cleaning kit! If you're looking for a new helmet.. check out LidsDirect. I was well impressed!
What are your views on helmets? What have you got and how do you rate it?
