Ireland Road Trip 11th Aug 2011 - 14th Aug 2011 Details
Guys,
So far me and my bro have look at the routes and ferry times for our trip, so here there are!!
Thursday 11th Aug - Ride to Troon, Ferry to Larne Cost £100 return ( if you book soon) - 10.05am crossing
Arrive 12.10 ish in Larne then head to Ballycastle and the Giants Causeway, with a stop at Heathers family in Ballycastle.
From there head to Port Rush - Londonderry - Donegal - Sligo - Frenchpark (base camp)
This route will take Around 6hrs on the bike and 220 mile. So 2 tanks of fuel £30
Friday 12th Aug - Base camp to Lough Key and the Zip It rope park for a few hours followed by a loop on the way home taking about 1hour 30 mins on. Easy day of riding as saturday will be a big day!!!
Saturday 13th Aug - Now here there are options!! which are open to discussion.
Plan 1 - 270 mile fuel £40 - 6hr- 7hr trip to watch the ulstar GP £25, really long and early start to the day.
Plan 2 - 220 mile Fuel £30- 5hr - 6hr trip around the wset coast of ireland taking in some of the best roads, (according to a native).
As i said options! Please put your thoughts on here!!
Sunday 14th Aug - Base camp to Larne direct 4hrs and 140 mile then ferry home at 17.30

Judging by your wording your preference for the saturday ride is the coastal route. I'm happy to go with the majority.
Also, it looks likely that the annual roadtrip/weekend away will start to grow in numbers so I propose for future events we include partners, friends and family who could attend with cars. Even though the main theme is biking and daily rides will be planned, the cage dwellers can do their own thing or join the ride as support vehicles, and still enjoy the evenings..?
And so the PBF rally is born. (Buddy Rally, Annual Weekender)? answers on postcard what we call it..

As above I'm easy on what we do, I'll do what the majority want to do. I would have liked to see the GP but I can always sky plus it! lol.
I think we should keep the PBF Rally a members thing, only because I like my peace and quiet, plus the missus isn't into road trips! lol, but again, I'll go with the flow/majority.

Fair enough.
I think the coast road could be the better option. We get to take some of the best scenery and roads in Ireland instead of 300 miles round trip to the gp on mostly dual carriageway. Plus, we could always take advantage of the special offer ferry prices in future and do a day trip to catch a road race..

Well the Ireland weekend was a success even if the weather wasn't in our favour. with only a minor technical problem with a leaky fuel pump I think we did well. Here's a few pics. I didn't get many because either it was wet or I just completely forgot to take photos!
