LED Indicators Empty LED Indicators

I changed my indicators for LEDs ages ago and had to fit a resistor to slow down the flash rate. Recently they've started staying on and just pulsing slightly instead of flashing normally. I automatically assumed it was the resistor that had failed. So I wired in a different kind of resistor last week and it didn't work either! So that makes me think it could be something else? What could it be?
