Know any good welders?
My exhaust has split at the join between the collector box and link pipe, the short section of tube where the link pipe clamps onto has corroded to the point it's wafer thin and snapped. Anyone know any good welders or recommend somewhere for a repair?
Re: Know any good welders?
There used to be a place down underwood road that done a bit of alloy welding on my frame for me, it was decent. But if you want an exhaust specific welder try C&C Exhausts in Hillington, 01418828811. They done a custom end can for my R6 and the build quality was top notch, But to be honest I don't even know if they are still there now? Worth a ring for a qoute?

C&C exhausts, Hillington. £40.
Campbell there told me at first that they don't do motorbike exhausts anymore but when I showed him it he changed his mind. As long as I took it off the bike. Understandable. I sheared a bolt in the process and it's been a pure cow to sort. Managed to snap a stud extractor in it too! Decided to throw in the towel today after snapping a drill and stabbing it into my wrist!
I'll leave it the pros to sort and just foot the bill!
Nice work by Campbell though.

I don't feel bad about not being able to get the sheared bolt out anymore. C&D Grant couldn't get it out either. Looks like I'll just have to persevere myself...

I want to take mine off but i'm sure the bolt will sheer.

Re: Know any good welders?
Do you have steel or stainless bolts? If they're normal steel they'll be easier to drill if they do shear. Get plenty WD40 on them and run the engine to get heat into them too. That might help.. Why are you taking yours off?
Re: Know any good welders?
Ran my bike with one header bolt missing recently. Surprisingly it passed its MOT like that because it wasn't leaking!
However, The other bolt on that pipe decided to go AWOL so it is leaking.
Back to square one and lying on my back to try to drill the old sheared part out again..

Sounds like your having a proper mare trying get it sorted. Do you want the details of the guy that sorted my sheared nut for me?

Re: Know any good welders?
Update,
Drilled out the bolt at the weekend. Not easy and not pleasent. Snapped 3 drills and ruined 2 stud extractors in the process. Also when drilling it out the drill wandered and took out some of the thread in the ally head. Which is what I was scared of. Next step is to try to recreate the thread and get a new bolt into it but I suspect that won't be straight forward either. Failing that, I'll drill it bigger and fit a helicoil or tap it with a bigger thread and use a bigger bolt. Fingers crossed..
