What are peoples opinions on turning my road bike into a full time track bike? I really dont get the time to use her on the road as much as I should! Plus the money saved on insurance and tax could go towards a few laps...

I had a bad scare a few weeks back when I nipped out for a quick blast on my favorite stretch of road, went into a corner a little to hot and ran a little wide, just happened to be a car coming the other way.... F**K knows how we never touched!? Sort of put me off road riding!

Anyway your thoughts are appreciated. Cheers

I wish Mucker!!

My latest Idea is to track my bike and have a daytime MOT, then I could use day insure for a tennor on the off chance I ride her on the road! would still need road tax though? So it's kind of defeating the purpose! scratch

It's your call mate. If you've been put off road riding after your wee 'moment' affraid maybe it's for the best you use it on track for a while to get that out of your system Twisted Evil . Then you might not be so tempted to thrash it on the road. Plus it's getting late in the year so rides out are going to become less frequent. Even if you only did it for six months or so you could tell how you felt about it and find out if you miss road riding..
If you do decide to go on track though you might want to put those old fairings back on!! Wink

If it does go on track I've got a makeover plan in mind, to keep the nice road fairings, nice! Watch this space. I think I'll use the winter to decide, I won't be using the bike the rest of this year, except to move her to her knew home next month... Then her winter strip and "improvement" progam shall commence. And come march time if I decide to track her I'll get my trailer sorted and start doing track days, hopefully one a month minimum, but I cant gaurantee this... Hopefully I'll also get to try a few of the southern tracks! Very Happy
