Marco Simoncelli RIP Empty Re: Marco Simoncelli RIP

Marco Simoncelli, a bit of a character (mates sideshow Bob for his hair) and exciting rider sadly lost his life in a particularly nasty accident involving 2 other riders (Valentino Rossi and Colin Edwards) the footage is appaling... a very sad day indeed.... not much i can say that does not sound cliche... photos of his dad, also present at the track, are tragic too

edwards got dislocated soulder and rossi got away unharmed, but now he has to live with the burden of getting involved in his friend's death....and the worst part is that both riders could do practically nothing to avoid him...

Ironically, (I think) it may have been his 'never say die' attitude that may have lead to the collision. Most other people would've accepted they'd crashed and simply slid away. Not Marco, he'd saved it on his knee/elbow/hip but it caused him to come back across the racing line after running wide.

I agree, it's a very sad loss.
I feel for his friends and family. I imagine Rossi and Edwards are tearing themselves up about it and probably going over it in their minds again and again.
I wouldn't be surprised if either of them threw in the towel after that. I hope they don't, but that is purely for selfish reasons as I think the sport would suffer even more without them, but at the end of the day it'll be their decision and nobody could blame them if they did.
R.I.P Marco.

It will be interesting to see why his helmet came off was it the shear force of rossis wheel hitting him on the neck and head or did the strap fail or was it done up . I suppose we will find out in the inquiry . I am not saying the helmet staying on would have made him survive the accident but strange why it came off
